FAQ

Do You Take Paypal?

Yes we are able to accept payment using Paypal.

Do You Accept Cheques?

Yes, for UK Orders Only - for the immediate future. If you wish to pay by cheque please complete the order process online and select the option "Cheque" at the Checkout. Cheques should be made payable to 'David J. Parkins'. Once we have received the cheque your order will be sent out. You will be asked to provide your Name, Account Number & Sort Code. This is an anti fraud measure so that we know the cheque we receive matches the details provided at the time of order.

Can I Pay by Bank Transfer?

No, sorry we have had to discontinue this facility. This is due to the greed of the banks and the ever more extortionate fees that they are now charging both you, the customer and us the recipient.

Do I Have To Setup An Account To Buy Products

No. You can purchase goods and complete the checkout process without being registered with us. You will only be asked for the relevant details regarding payment and shipping.

***NOTE*** Some features will only work properly if you setup an account and are signed in when you are selecting products.

I live outside of the EU VAT region but prices are shown including VAT

The short answer to this is that the site defaults to the UK until you enter your Country at the Checkout. Once the site knows where you are from the prices will be shown correctly for your location. As stated above, if you have setup an account and you are signed in then the prices should be correct for your location.

How Can I Find Out The Shipping Costs BEFORE Placing an Order?

Every item on our web site is logged with its shipping weight and the total is calculated by the weight of items in your basket when you go to the checkout. When you specify the shipping destination the web site will calculate the correct shipping charge AND deduct the UK VAT if the parcel is going to a non-EU country. We have adopted this 'by weight' system to be as fair to customers as we possibly can, since we do not seek to profit from shipping & handling charges.

Because of this, we cannot tell you the shipping cost without going online and placing your order for you - so the easiest way to find out the shipping is to go through the order & checkout process up to the point of specifying the shipping destination. You will then see the accurate cost of the order with the correct shipping included. At this point you can then decide on whether to complete the order proces with the payment details or to abandon the order.

Pop Ups

Many of the current browsers allow users to block Pop Ups. We use Pop Ups on the site for information purposes, they only come from us and do not contain any links to sites outside of D. J. Parkins. Please set your browser to allow Pop Ups from this site.

I See Error 508 When I Try To Pay For My Order

If your outside of the United Kingdom and your computer is set up for the country you live in then you may have special characters in your name or your address. The Payment Gateway will only accept UK ASCII characters A-Z a-z 0-9 _ - . , + @ so please use the UK English Character Set and the Gateway should accept your information.

Can You Sell Parts from Kits and Sets Separately?

No, sorry we cannot. This is because, in the case of castings, these are purchased in complete pre-packed sets from the casting suppliers [both metal and resin]. For etchings it is also not possible, as we cannot obtain just one or two parts from what are normally, in our products, large frets.

The same applies to buyers of incomplete or secondhand kits and sets purchased, for example, on Ebay. You should check that such items are absolutely complete as you may find you cannot get the missing items from us to 'make good' a secondhand kit sold with parts that are missing or damaged.
