LMS 40 Ton Bogie Trolley - Diag. 6248
These wagons were built by Cravens in 1926 for carrying of specialist loads and lasted some way into BR days. They had eleven adjustable crossbearer stretchers plus load securing chains which are included in the kit. They ran on diamond frame bogies with bogie-mounted brake levers.

This kit features all the chraracteristic heavy rivet detail of the prototype and includes finely-etched loading instruction and telegraphic code plates, together a selction of buliders' plates covering all eight of the wagons built to this diagram. Sprung bogies with brake gear detail are included, as are couplings and sprung buffers. The kit includes wood for the two large timber baulks which ran the length of the wagon between the bogie centres.

The wagon is availble at the point of purchase with the option of an very impressive load - two large four-bladed ship propellers - which would be mounted within the timber load baulks supplied in the kit and secured with the fastening chains which are also included.

LMS/BR 12 Ton Glass Trucks
We are pleased to announce two kits for this fascinating wagon, that together, span a service period off approx. 50 years. The LMS built a total of 66 between 1926 and 1947 for the transportation of large sheets of glass in wooden packing crates. BR perpetuated the design, with obvious buffer & axle box differences - BR Swindon building 50 of these wagons between 1955-61. The LMS-built wagons lasted until the late 1960s, whilst the BR-built wagons lasted well into the 1970s. The LMS wagons had three link couplings, whilst the BR vehicles had Instanter links. All were unfitted. These wagons worked in general freight trains, usually in twos or threes. They were sent wherever required by the major glass manufacturers.

These kits have all the detail of the real thing - full riveting, accurate chassis construction, all the load securing detail, individual working leaf springs and springable buffers. The kit comes with a basswood bed and is supplied with a generous amount of strip-wood and templates to enable the construction of two large packing crates.

Metal clad wooden bolster assemblies are supplied with 'LMS' & the individual wagon numbers included on the bolster sides, which are matched to the multiple sets of number plates that are also provided. Detailed securing chain assemblies are also included.

The underframe is fully detailed and the kit includes individual working leaf springs, sprung buffers and a prototypical centrally sprung coupling assembly.

LMS 20 Ton Long Tube Wagon - Diag. 1945
This kit features the 100 vehicles of this type built in 1942 and which survived until at least the late 1960s. The body is in three layers of etched brass, head together as per the prototype, with individually rivetted strapping, resulting in ultra-crisp detail. In addition, both the side doors open as per the prototype and the kit includes the top-capping, again prototypically held in place. A selection of finely etched builders plates are included.

The kit has a highly detailed underframe, with all the structure faithfully represented. Sprung buffers and couplings are provided as well as individual working leaf springs for the W iron/axlebox assemblies.

LMS 22 Ton Long Tube Wagon - Diag. 2116
This kit features the 300 vehicles of this type that entered traffic from 1947 and which survived until the 1970s. These wagons were easily distinguishable from the Diag. 1945 vehicles due to their ends being from corrugated steel. In this kit these ends are resin moulding which locate between the sides on the wagon - so that there are no fragile resin corners are exposed.

The body sides are in three layers of etched brass, head together as per the prototype, with individually rivetted strapping, resulting in ultra-crisp detail. In addition, both the side doors open as per the prototype and the kit includes the top-capping, again prototypically held in place. A selection of finely etched builders plates are provided.

The kit has a highly detailed underframe, with all the structure faithfully represented. Sprung buffers and couplings are provided as well as individual working leaf springs for the W iron/axlebox assemblies.

LMS 13 Ton Mineral Wagon - Diag. 2102
This kit covers the 5500 wooden-bodied 7 plank mineral wagons on steel underframes built at Wolverton & Derby between 1944-46. Some of these lasted at least until the late 1960s.

This is one of the most detailed wagon kits ever released, featuring a completely detailed underframe with all rivet detail, scale brake gear and individual working leaf springs. Couplings and prototypically sprung buffers are included. The body is in three layers of etched brass, head together as per the prototype, with individually rivetted strapping, resulting in ultra-crisp detail. In addition, both the side & end doors open as per the prototype and the kit includes the top-capping, again prototypically held in place. Finely etched builders plates are included with numbers for seven alternate wagons. Note that this is not a quick-assembly wagon kit but is definately one for the true wagon enthusiast - who wants the same level of detail on a wagon as on a fine scale locomotive.

LMS 16 Ton Steel Mineral Wagon - Diag. 2109
This kit covers the 2599 wagons built at Derby in 1947. These were fitted with a distinctive style of pressed side and end door and with bottom discharge doors but with no top side doors fitted. Some of these wagon lasted in service well into the 1970s.

This kit has all the underframe detail of our LMS 13 Ton Diag. 2102 kit and includes individual working leaf springs, couplings and sprung buffers. The side and end doors also open prototypically. Finely etched builders plates are included with numbers for seven alternate wagons.

Three Wagon Pack (+£0.00 Excluding VAT)

LMS 16 Ton Steel Mineral Wagon - Diag. 2134
This kit covers the 3500 wagons built at Derby in 1948-9. Although of LMS design, these wagons obviously did not appear in service until after nationalisation. These vehicles were very much the forerunners of the 'standard' BR 16 Tonners - with an almost indentical side & end door pattern and with side top doors. Unlike the BR minerals they were fitted bottom discharge doors and, of course, LMS-pattern 'W' irons, axleboxes and buffers. Again, these wagon lasted in service well into the 1970s.

This kit has all the underframe & body detail of our Diag. 2109 kit and includes individual working leaf springs, couplings and sprung buffers. The side and end doors also open prototypically. To add further variation - this kit includes alternative parts for both welded and rivetted side and end doors. Finely etched builders plates are included with numbers for seven alternate wagons.

BR 16 Ton Steel Mineral Wagon - Diag. 1/108
This kit represents the 'standard' BR 'Coal 16' built in tens of thousands and introduced from 1950. Unlike the LMS-built wagons, they had no bottom discharge doors and so were fitted with two shoe Morton brake gear as standard. No BR steam, transistion-era or diesel layout up the 1980s can be complete without at least one or two of these.

This kit has all the detail of our LMS Steel Mineral wagon kits - full underframe detail with individual working leaf springs, couplings and prototypically sprung buffers and these kits also feature opening side and end doors. Finely etched builders plates are included with numbers for thirteen alternate wagons.

BR 16 Ton Steel Mineral Wagon - Diag. 1/109
This kit represents the BR 'Coal 16' built in smaller numbers than the Diag. 1/108 version [though still numerous!] and introduced from 1950. These wagons were characterised by rivetted body-work & side doors and were fitted with pressed end doors. Like the 1/108 vehicles they had no bottom discharge doors and were almost all fitted with two shoe Morton brake gear as standard.

This kit has all the detail of the Diag. 1/108 kit - full underframe detail with individual working leaf springs, couplings and prototypically sprung buffers and again, feature opening side and end doors. Finely etched builders plates are included with numbers for seven alternate wagons. Some wagons to this diagram were back-fitted with conventional end doors and the kit includes this option, to make further variations possible.

BR 16 Ton Re-Bodied Steel Mineral Wagon - Unfitted [MCO]
This kit covers the re-bodied version of the standard 1/108 vehicle. Still with Moreton 2 shoe brake gear, these wagons were distiguishable by the curved bottom to the bodysides and no side top doors. Most of the Re-Bodied wagons were also noteworthy in that the bodies were mounted to the chassis the opposite way around in relation to the brake gear when compared to the wagons as originally built.

This kit has all the other features and details of the original Diag. 1/108 kit. One of these in clean grey livery amonst a group of other 'beaten up' original wagons would add considerable interest to a rake of minerals.

BR 16 Ton Steel Mineral Wagon - Vac. Braked with 4 Shoe Brake Gear
This kit covers the 4 shoe vacuum braked version of the standard 1/108 vehicle with a top side door and tie-bars between the W irons. These wagons could often be seen in rakes of unfitted minerals, obviously with the vac-brakes inoperative and being in bauxite livery, would add further variety to a train. In addition they could also be seen in fitted rakes with the rest of our 16 ton vac-braked versions [see below].

BR 16 Ton Re-Bodied Mineral Wagon - Vac. Braked with 4 Shoe Brake Gear
This kit covers the re-bodied version of the standard 1/108 vehicle but this time a vac-braked wagon with four shoe brake gear and tie-bars. Again, the kit features the curved bottom to the bodysides and has no side top doors. These wagons could often be seen in rakes of unfitted minerals, obviously with the vac-brakes inoperative and being in bauxite livery, would add further variety to a train. In addition they could also be seen in fitted rakes with the 8 shoe vac-braked versions [see below].

BR 16 Ton Steel Mineral Wagon - Vac. Braked with 8 Shoe Brake Gear
This kit covers the 'ultimate' development of the 1/108 16 Ton steel mineral - with 8 shoe clasp brake gear, twin vac. brake cylinders and brake force changeover levers, as originally built, with side top doors. In later years these wagons were increasingly used for scrap metal traffic and survived in revenue earning service into the 1980s. Many were then transferred into departmental use.

This kit has full underframe detail with 99% of all the complex brake linkage present and is supplied with couplings and oleo buffers.

BR 16 Ton Re-Bodied Steel Mineral Wagon - Vac. Braked with 8 Shoe Brake Gear [MCV]
This kit covers the re-bodied version of the 'ultimate' development of the 1/108 16 Ton steel mineral - with 8 shoe clasp brake gear, twin vac. brake cylinders and brake force changeover levers. Again, the kit features the curved bottom to the bodysides with no side top doors. In later years these wagons were increasingly used for scrap metal traffic and were the last style of 16 tonners in revenue earning service - lasting well into the 1980s. Many were then transferred into departmental use as spoil wagons and coded ZHV [see below].

This kit has full underframe detail with 99% of all the complex brake linkage present and is supplied with couplings and oleo buffers.

BR 16 Ton Spoil Wagon [ZHV]
This kit covers Diag. 1/108 16 Ton steel mineral wagons - with 8 shoe clasp brake gear, twin vac. brake cylinders and brake force changeover levers and with no top side doors - AFTER they were passed to the civil engineer's dept. in the 1980s and re-coded ZHV. They were used for carrying spoil and remained in service until 1994.

Because of the denisity of the spoil relative to coal, these wagons had rough rectangular slots cut into the bodysides to prevent overloading. As this would, in turn, sometimes lead to the load being spilled from the slots, some vehicles had sections of grille welded to the insides of the wagon, over these rectangular slots, to prevent this. This kit provides these grille panels as an optional fit and also includes couplings and sprung oleo buffers.
